COMMENTING on news the Environment Agency Wales will be completing the upgrade of flood defences along the River Clwyd by the end of the year, Assembly Member for North Wales and Shadow Minister for Rural Affairs Brynle Williams said: “The announcement that the Environment Agency will be reinforcing both banks of the River Clwyd by the end of 2010 will be welcome news to all residents near the River Clwyd estuary. |

RESPONDING to news that up to 70 jobs may be lost at the Institute for Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences, Brynle Williams AM, Shadow Minister for Agriculture, today questioned the Minister for Rural Affairs over the future of the institution. Mr Williams, Regional Assembly Member for North Wales, said: “Agriculture faces massive challenges in the coming decades, the doubling of food demand by 2030, the global population hitting 9 billion by 2050, as well as the impact of a climate change. |

BRYNLE Williams, Assembly Member for North Wales, today expressed his dismay at the failure of local authorities and the Assembly Government to maintain salt stocks in the region. Mr Williams said: “The situation in North Wales is abominable seeing as we are only halfway through the winter. “Stocks should be replenished on time so that the roads and pavements can be kept safe and free from accidents. |
