COMMENTING on news the Environment Agency Wales will be completing the upgrade of flood defences along the River Clwyd by the end of the year, Assembly Member for North Wales and Shadow Minister for Rural Affairs Brynle Williams said: 

 

 “The announcement that the Environment Agency will be reinforcing both banks of the River Clwyd by the end of 2010 will be welcome news to all residents near the River Clwyd estuary.

RESPONDING to news that up to 70 jobs may be lost at the Institute for Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences, Brynle Williams AM, Shadow Minister for Agriculture, today questioned the Minister for Rural Affairs over the future of the institution.  Mr Williams, Regional Assembly Member for North Wales, said: 

 

“Agriculture faces massive challenges in the coming decades, the doubling of food demand by 2030, the global population hitting 9 billion by 2050, as well as the impact of a climate change.

February is National Heart Month and The British Heart Foundation (BHF) and Brynle Williams AM are asking the people of North Wales to join National Wear Red Day on Friday 26th February 2010 and to follow the BEAT health code.  

By wearing red, for a suggested donation of £1, you will help the BHF save lives through pioneering research, patient care, campaigning for change and by providing vital information.

COMMENTING on news that more than 200 jobs are under threat at Welsh Country Foods on Anglesey, Shadow Rural Affairs Minister Brynle Williams AM said: 

 

“I very much regret this decision. It is yet another blow to the Anglesey economy, coming hard on the heels of those jobs lost at Anglesey Aluminium.

Dismay at Road Salt Shortage PDF Print E-mail

BRYNLE Williams, Assembly Member for North Wales, today expressed his dismay at the failure of local authorities and the Assembly Government to maintain salt stocks in the region.  Mr Williams said:

 

 

“The situation in North Wales is abominable seeing as we are only halfway through the winter.  

 

 “Stocks should be replenished on time so that the roads and pavements can be kept safe and free from accidents.
