COMMENTING on news that more than 200 jobs are under threat at Welsh Country Foods on Anglesey, Shadow Rural Affairs Minister Brynle Williams AM said:
“I very much regret this decision. It is yet another blow to the Anglesey economy, coming hard on the heels of those jobs lost at Anglesey Aluminium. “It seems the Deputy First Minister – who must take some of the blame for the fact Wales has the highest unemployment rate of any UK nation – cannot even stop major job losses in his own backyard. “Welsh Country Foods needs to be clear about its plans, the number of people affected, and its future on Anglesey. “The Assembly Government must also work with the local council, unions, and the company to support the workforce and to ensure those who lose their jobs are given every opportunity to retrain or find new work.” |
